Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes performing general fire prevention inspections of various types of structures and other installation facilities, identifies fire hazards and conditions, which range from moderate to a high degree of fire expectancy and potential severity and ensuring that facilities are in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Certification Requirements: To occupy this position, at the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following IFSAC or Pro Board certification levels: (Note: You must attach a copy of your certification for verification.)

National Registered or State EMT (Basic Level)
Within the first year of occupying the GS-07 position, the incumbent must obtain and maintain the following DoD Firefighter Certification levels: Fire Instructor I
Specialized Experience for GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes performing fire protection and prevention inspections, providing technical expertise in hazardous material storage functions and ensuring that facilities are in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
