- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Must lift up to 45 lbs. climb ladders up to 100 feet, climb in and over obstacles and move charged fire hose lines in the regular performance of duties.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Must to wear prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty.
- This position is a designated Mission Essential position.
- This is require random drug tested.
- Incumbent requires that you participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program.
- Incumbent require to work 106 hours or a 144 hours bi-weekly tour of duty.
- This position requires to work rotating shifts.
- Must obtain and maintain DoD IFSAC or Pro-Board issued certifications: HAZMAT Technician, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator - Pumper, Driver Operator - ARFF, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician.
- Incumbent require to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience:
GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: drives and operates firefighter vehicles; controls and extinguishes fires; assists controlling hazardous materials incidents and operates fire communications equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) Performing rescue operations; (3) Detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; AND (4) Operation of fire communications equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-05: One year of specialized experience includes such duties as (1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; OR (2) Performing rescue operations; AND (3) Detection, reduction, elimination of potential fire hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
GS-04: One year of specialized which includes following detailed instructions to assist with basic firefighting duties, such as using and/or maintaining basic firefighting equipment; or maintaining a clean environment in the department facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).
******In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement for the GS-07 Grade: Must be certified within the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Fire Fighter Certification system at HAZMAT Technician, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator - Pumper, Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), Emergency Medical Technician******
Education
