In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Responding to emergencies such as: injury and/or illness of patients, 2) Performing lifesaving measures on persons such as: performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, wound care, and/or rescue operations, 3) Controlling fires as a member of an organized team such as: military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess:
- -Fire Fighter I
- -Fire Fighter II
- -Driver Operator-Pumper
- -Driver Operator-Aerial
- -HAZMAT Technician
- -National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-P) OR Paramedic Certification
- -Current active certification through the North Carolina (NC) Office of Emergency medical services (EMS), Paramedic credential OR NREMT-P OR certification from a state which is recognized by the North Carolina (NC) Office of Emergency medical services (EMS)
