Summary

This is a temporary position located within Forest Service. The incumbent is responsible for informally serving food and beverages, preparing service areas, preparing simple foods, cleaning service areas and meeting spaces/rooms of food and debris, storing food properly and performing related tasks.

Duties

  • Prepares coffee, tea, and punches according to recipes. Brews coffee according to the number of servings required. Brews other hot drinks and prepares a full variety of cold drinks ensuring directions are followed. Sets up water stations.
  • Loads food trays onto carts to transport to dining facilities. Sets out trays of food for customers to self serve. Following directions from work leader, assists with placing and removing food trays delivered by from caterers in warming ovens.
  • Assists in opening packages of food items and setting up on trays for serving or further preparation.
  • Clears, breaks down, and cleans assigned area. Returns soiled dishes and trays. Sets up and operates dishwashing machine. Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils.
  • Cleans ceilings, exhaust fans, and spaces under and behind equipment, and other heavy duty cleaning tasks. Washes floors and walls. Cleans refrigerators and freezers. Sanitizes garbage disposal equipment and areas.
  • Unloads food and beverages from delivery trucks/caterers. Assists in storing heavy supplies. Moves heavy, filled garbage cans when collecting and transferring trash from work to disposal areas.
  • Performs cleaning tasks throughout the food service and related areas, such as cleaning counters, appliances, sinks, dishwashers, cabinets and pantry area.
  • Assists in moving food items from the storage areas to the work areas using a dolly or simple warehousing equipment. Moves heavy garbage cans when collecting and transferring trash from the work area to the disposal area.
  • Gathers recyclable materials. Breaks down cardboard cartons for recycle pickup. Places other recyclables in appropriate locations.
  • Serves and apportions a variety of meats, vegetables, desserts, etc. onto serving tables/counters in indoor and outdoor dining and reception areas. Loads and transports carts to and from kitchen to dining and reception areas.
  • Utilizes safety and sanitation practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required equipment and clothing. Safely uses and maintains tools and equipment.
  • Assists with preparing and packing box lunches. Wraps sandwiches and stores in cool area for follow up use. Stocks refrigerators or dispensers with milk or juice beverages to ensure cool temperature of beverage when served.
  • Transports fruits from refrigerator and packages of single serving chips, cookies or similar menu items to eating areas for participant self serve. Uses the proper utensils and containers.
  • Operates choppers, can openers and kitchen hand tools as needed. Packages bread, rolls, pastries and other baked goods that need to be sealed.
  • Food service set up and clean up is a regular and recurring duty for all meals, snacks and refreshments served at Grey Towers. The set up and clean up is performed in a continuous, uninterrupted manner or during expected recurring intervals.
