This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as General Supply Specialist with ILSC, FIELD SUPPORT OPERATIONS MATERIEL MGT & FLDG MATERIEL FLDG &TRNG.

Position may be filled as a term appointment not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond 6 years, up to 8 years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond 8 years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Duties

  • Prepares, coordinates, and manages documentation that supports the fielding process to completion.
  • Executes de-processing or processing for system and platform specific tasks in preparation for inventory and transfer.
  • Operates in Army Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

  • The position requires a pre-employment physical, and annually thereafter.
  • Position requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • The incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card.
  • When required participate in hazardous material training.
  • May be required to handle Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL).
  • The position requires the wear and use of prescribed personnel protective equipment.
  • The position requires working in adverse conditions or outdoors in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather.
  • The position requires working in loud environments.
  • The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • The position requires working on, in and around, climbing up on, entering vehicles and operating in confined spaces.
  • The position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 50-75% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Advises external personnel on fielding and supply related matters and/or (2) Performs broad range of supply transactions related to stock movement, requisitioning, status, and availability and/or (3) Compile, analyze, and summarize information relating to the designated supply requirement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or another related field.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
