INTRODUCTION:
Responsible for serving as an assistant to the Group Fitness Lead Coordinator for MCCS Health Promotion on Okinawa. Ensures that all group fitness exercise classes or sessions are conducted in accordance with the proper protocol and standards. This position is located in the Health Promotion Section, Semper Fit Branch, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Butler. The purpose of this position is to serve as a creditable source and advisor to the Group Fitness Lead Coordinator and Program Manager on matters pertaining to the group fitness program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Group Fitness Lead Coordinator with all of the following duties:
Responsible for the maintenance and inventory of group fitness equipment across MCB Butler.
Tracks and interprets group fitness data to include patronage, inventory, invoices, budgets, etc.
Implements group fitness strategic plan to serve a wide spectrum of populations including service members and civilians across all of Camp Butler
Develops program-specific training workshops and seminars for instructors. Advises and consults on industry standards.
Acts as the Alternate Contracting Officer Representative (ACOR) for contracted instructors. Ensures that all work is performed as described in the group exercise contract.
Ensures that all NAF and contracted group exercise instructors are current in leading edge fitness knowledge, skills and abilities.
Ensures all instructors maintain current group exercise and CPR, AED and First Aid certifications or Basic Life Support (BLS).
Evaluates all classes conducted by NAF and contracted instructors to ensure safe and effective practices are being followed by performing quarterly audits for each instructor.
Provides guidance to NAF and contracted instructors regarding current policies, procedures, and protocols. Makes available reference materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Plans and executes fitness-related events across all MCB Butler Camps on Okinawa. Events to include, but are not limited to, Aerobathons, Spinathons, Zumbathons, yoga events, health fairs and any other fitness-related event that may be conducted by MCCS Health Promotion.
Ensures all tenets of EEO and Safety Regulations are followed. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
May be tasked with taking the appropriate courses to be able to operate the functional fitness truck and will be available for help with events that utilize the truck
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
