This position is located in the centralized acquisition and grants function for the Social Security Administration. Incumbent serves as a grants management official and performs assignments in support of Agency objectives/programs.

Vacancy is open to All US Citizens. This position is not authorized to be filled virtually or through outstationing. The position may be filled in any of the listed Official Duty Stations (ODS). To participate in telework, you will be required to reside within a 2-hour commute to your assigned ODS by the time of your appointment.

Duties

  • Independently plans, awards and administers the full range of grants/cooperative agreements issued under Section 1110 and 1115 of the Social Security Act.
  • Performs associated functions which address mission elements critical to agency priorities and objectives.
  • Develops and implements significant new program strategies; analyzes key business and industry policy questions and contributes to significant agency decisions, policy recommendations and positions.
  • Represents the agency authoritatively to key government and business officials and organizations; plans and manages delivery of major, high-priority assignments which are central to agency program objectives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify for this GS-13 Grants Management Specialist position you must demonstrate at least 52 weeks of Specialized Experience.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE must have been gained in a federal position at or above GS-12 OR (if your position and/or experience is in another federal pay scale OR outside of federal service) by performing duties at a level equivalent to GS-12.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is work that primarily consists of (1) the management, award and/or obligation of funds for grants, cooperative agreements and other related instruments and services such as discretionary and mandatory grants, using financial, administrative, business and negotiation procedures; (2) the competitive or non-competitive evaluation of grants proposals and/or (3) the administration or termination and/or closeout of grants and/or grants assistance and agreement awards.

If you have this experience, you must describe, in your own words, the duties you perform that pertain to the requirements for this position.

Since Specialized Experience also has a time component, it must be evident that the duties you describe are at the required level for at least 52 weeks.

This position is on a full-time, flex-time schedule; Alternate Work Schedules (AWS) may be authorized.

Telework may be approved after all conditions for telework have been met.

This position is not authorized to be filled virtually or through outstationing. This position may be filled in any of the listed locations. To participate in telework, you must reside within a 2-hour commute to your assigned ODS by the time of your appointment.

Relocation expenses will not be paid; salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions.

Successful performance of work in this position and adherence to conditions of this position will be assessed during the 1-year probationary period that may be served by new appointees (e.g., new to SSA and/or new to this series).
