To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following requirements:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at leastone (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Grants Management Specialist, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled? Qualifying specialized experience includes working in a Medical Research Organization Grant Section, preparation, review and submission of research proposals, advising investigators on pre-award and post award requirements, assist investigators in preparing documents critical to the submission or post-award approval of applications, experience using various computer hardware and software systems, collecting and analyzing data used to prepare and submit a variety of reports, and possessing basic accounting skills to manage research budgets. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates, AND hours worked per week. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this Grants Management Specialist position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You must possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed related graduate level education and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements for this position at the GS-11 level. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily performed in an office environment and requires alternating periods of walking and sedentary work. Manual dexterity is required for operating office equipment. Typing and computer operation may involve long periods of hand and wrist movement.
