As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN-Title 32, GS-0640-8, you will manage and accomplish work in the area of personnel medical readiness management and reporting; provide quality assurance and advisory services to subordinate units.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Conditions of Employment:

-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
-Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
-This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
-Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
-Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which involves the exercise of analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and personal responsibility, and application of a substantial body of knowledge of principles, concepts and practices applicable to one or more fields of administration or management. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-0640-08 level, you must have at least 18 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity.
Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation for GS-5 positions. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
