Duties

  • You will assist higher graded mobile equipment mechanics in disassembling and repairing major systems, components and complex operating mechanisms.
  • You will diagnose, troubleshoot, remove, adjust, modify, repair or replace defective components in sub-systems.
  • You will repair, overhaul, and rebuild attachments and other utility systems.
  • You will disassemble diesel or gasoline engines as necessary and inspect repairs or replace such parts.
  • You will repair equipment such as clutches, transmission systems, hydraulic systems, cooling systems electrical systems, booms and similar units.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CDL "Class A" license within 12 months of the effective date.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card (OF-346) that annotates the size and type of vehicles approved to operate to include forklifts rated up to 60,000 pounds.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.
