Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. Must be able to perform High Voltage Electrician tasks as part of an electrical team or line crew to perform installation, maintenance and repairs on electric power control equipment, fixtures, hardware's, distribution lines, traffic light controls or electric- generating equipment, must have knowledge of National Electric Code and other guidance - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Lifts, pulls and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier; climbs ladders and poles; works in high places, and in awkward and strained positions, sometimes for prolonged periods.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside, subject to extreme weather conditions. Works on energized and de-energized high voltage lines and equipment. Works underground and above ground on poles or from aerial bucket trucks; in trenches and manholes. Subject to serious electrical shock, cuts and bruises. Is exposed to Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB). Uses safety equipment such as fiberglass gear, rubber gloves, hot sticks, etc.
