Duties
- Assists in providing recruitment and placement service to NAF activities by procedurally processing a full range of personnel actions such as appointments, position and pay changes, transfers, and separations.
- Prepares job announcements, maintains an applicant pool, distributes hiring certificates, and in-processes employees utilizing USA Staffing system.
- Checks for presence of necessary documents, for completion of all necessary items in each document, and for arrangement of necessary documents in proper sequence.
- Checks items of information for conformance to applicable laws, regulations, etc. Contacts appropriate sources to secure missing data or documents.
- Answers incoming phone calls, greets visitors, and assists job applicants.
- Maintains and follows up with staff on all suspense controls assigned to the office.
- Reviews outgoing correspondence for proper format, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Types and formats a wide variety of documents, including confidential materials.
- Provides basic information to NAF employees regarding personnel matters.
- In-processes new employees, providing an overview of employee benefits and assisting in the completion of employment documents.
- Maintains Official Personnel Folders and other office files.
- Responsible for processing security checks to include installation records checks, state criminal history repository checks, and background investigations.
- Operates computer terminal and word processing equipment.
- Inputs personnel data into the automated NAF personnel data system to process a variety of personnel actions.
- May serve as records management custodian, maintaining office files and their disposition.
- Requisitions office supplies and a variety of forms.
- Requests maintenance and facilities repairs, as needed.
- May serve as ITEC (Information Technology Equipment Custodian) or alternate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a developmental position having known promotion potential to the NF-0203-III level. Upon completion of 6 months experience as a Human Resources Assistant (OA), training on the automated data systems (DCPDS) and USA Staffing, and in-processing, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the higher pay band if a position becomes available.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
- Applicant must have responsible clerical or office experience in which the applicant demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the pay band level of the position; experience following established rules, regulations, procedures; experience utilizing office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel); experience providing customer service.
- Experience that required the applicant to acquire and apply knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements of one or more areas of a personnel system is desirable.
- Requires experience using various correspondence formats, filing and application of spelling and grammar rules.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Applicant must have the ability to work efficiently under the pressure of constant interruptions and deadlines.
- Requires lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- This position requires the incumbent to satisfactory complete a Tier 3 background investigation.

Education
