Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to perform technical support work in or provide assistance in one or more human resources functional areas such as: talent acquisition, administration, employee relations, benefits, employee development, and personnel security.
Employee Benefits
Performs complex data entry and clerical duties and maintains benefit files in accordance with applicable regulations. Independently prepares recurring reports and prepares special reports as directed, abstracting information from files, PeopleSoft, and relevant databases as appropriate. Conducts monthly benefit audits to include monthly reconciliation and benefit eligibility. Completes benefit service date and company service date audits. Maintains suspense registers and follows up on overdue actions, keeping supervisor informed on status. Ensures an adequate supply of forms, publications and other office supplies, including those specifics to Benefits.
Assists employees with benefit related questions, issues and concerns. Prepares needed documents as requested by management (i.e., letter of employment, SF 1190s, applications for identification, benefit trends and analysis, and other supporting documents). Resolves administrative problems with carrier representatives. Coordinates and processes military buy back, survivor benefits, retirement benefits and ensures that portability of all benefits are transitioned accurately and smoothly. Maintains and tracks continuous and intermittent FMLA requests and non-FMLA medical leave.
Talent Acquisition
Serves as a subject matter expert on all phases of the recruiting and staffing process including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, in-processing and advising managers on best practices associated with on-boarding. Advises hiring managers on best practices related to behavioral based interviews, strategic sourcing, and core competency recruiting. Screens and rates applicants as per established Marine Corps Order and local directives. Participates in local job fairs, newcomer briefings, new employee orientation briefings, and leadership training, as directed. Advises and assists candidates on the submission status of applications. Responds to inquiries, grievances and complaints based on rating of qualifications, priority preference, and internal merit promotion actions, as appropriate. Sources strategically for worldwide positions in order to deliver a robust slate of high quality candidates for immediate opening. Looks for ways to continuously improve sourcing capabilities and networks in order to meet ongoing recruiting needs.
Personnel Security
Prepares reports and correspondence of a confidential nature which may include letters, e-mail messages, memorandums, faxes, and reports. Prepares DD 1172-2 forms for NAF employees to receive Common Access Card (CAC) identification and serves as a liaison between HRO and Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) as needed. Verifies dependent verification and SOFA status before issuing DD 1172-2 forms for CAC and ID privilege cards.
Represents the MCCS Security Program to the applicants and customers by explaining the processes and required documentation needed to initiate background checks and investigations for new employees during in-processing and, as needed, provides counseling and answers pertinent questions. Verifies the status of existing investigations utilizing the current Department of Defense (DoD) personnel security clearance and access database.

Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
