Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Martin Army Community Hospital within the Deputy for Quality and Safety; Department of Quality Management at Fort Benning, GA.

Duties

  • Provide technical oversight and management of the organization’s Credentialing and Privileging program.
  • Responsible for ensuring Credential Section employees and the Credentialing program are performing in compliance with regulatory requirements and procedures, standards, laws, and Defense Health Agency policies and requirements.
  • Serve as the primary consultant, point of contact, and subject matter expert for credentialing updates and the facility’s Credentialing and Privileging program.
  • Analyze complex adverse privileging actions involving active duty, Reserve, National Guard, contract, and civilian Defense Health Agency personnel.
  • Coordinate Credentials Committee agenda and meetings.
  • Provide guidance to credentialing, privileging, and adverse privileging actions.
  • Analyze program audit results; interprets facility report card data; researches provider credentialing requirements; and identifies potential privileging issues.
  • Assists in developing short- and long-range objectives for the credentialing and privileging program within the hospital.
  • Lead the development of goals in support of the credentialing and privileging program, identifying resource needs and recommending enhancements to improve program efficiency.
  • Prepare correspondence related to credentialing and privileging actions ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with credentialing and privileging services for medical staff as well as licensed and certified medical professionals; utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data; and providing training or presentations on updated policies within a medical facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
