Summary

About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Fort Carson Colorado.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

** A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) or a Registered Medical Assistant Certification (RMA) is not required at entrance of duty. Incumbent will need to obtain and maintain either certificate within 12 months from the date of entry. **

Duties

  • Perform a range of diagnostic examinations and treatments according to clinic processes and procedures.
  • Prepares patients and rooms for patient care activities, examinations and diagnostic test.
  • Sets up equipment and instruments and hands instruments to health care providers.
  • Take and record accurate vital signs and other required measurements.
  • Verify patient's eligibility for treatment.
  • Schedule appointment with the appropriate clinic and health care provider dependent on patient disposition, complaint or symptoms or services requested.
  • Complete lab work and other point of care testing within scope of practice.
  • Obtain lab samples, perform point of care testing, and deliver specimens directly to the lab.
  • Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups in accordance with established protocols.

  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a regular and reoccurring basis.
  • This position may require a Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • All employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain a Clinical Certified Medical Assistant Certificate or a Registered Medical Assistant Certificate within 12 months of the date of hire and maintain for duration in this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates: performing non-professional nursing/medical assistance work assisting Health Care Providers with medical exams; administering immunizations and medications ordered by the health care providers; and obtaining specimens (blood, mucus, urine, etc.) for laboratory testing.

OR

Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: The specialized experience as described, but less than one year; and some education leading to a bachelor's degree but less than required. Computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
