- Position requires a climbing weight not-to-exceed 310 with all required gear. Personal maximum weight may not exceed 280 pounds at time of appointment. Personal weight will be determined at the time of physical examination and final job offer will be contingent upon verification that individual's weight does not exceed this amount.
- This position requires the ability to operate a Government vehicle. Incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, able to obtain and maintain Defensive Drivers certification and have a valid state driver's license. Defensive Driver's Training will be completed upon employment.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to operate vehicles of more than 26,000 pounds GVWR. The hiring organization will work with you on obtaining your CDL.
- If you are tentatively selected for this position, you will be required to have a physical examination that will determine whether you are qualified to perform the duties of the position. An offer of employment will depend upon your successfully passing the physical examination.
- This position requires completion of an annual medical examination at Federal expense.
- You must test negative for illegal drugs before placement in the position, and will be subject to random drug testing thereafter. If a determination of the use of illegal drugs is confirmed, non-selection or disciplinary action, up to and including removal from Federal service, may result.

Qualifications
Qualifications: You must have journeyman-level ability in the duties of an High Voltage Electrician (Substation). You must meet all the qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Ability to do the work of a High Voltage Electrician without more than normal supervision to include installing, constructing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in high voltage switchyards, substations, communication facilities and power operations centers.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands: The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurrent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; and recurrent lifting of moderately heavy items (over 75 pounds), such as test instruments, compression tools, and various winch lines. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
Work Environment: The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, such as working with high-voltage electrical equipment (.001 volts to 16 I ,000 volts as general criteria), extreme outdoor weather conditions, and emergency situations at all hours of the day and any day, and foreign electrical systems. Position may require accredited nationally recognized certification for fixed and swing boom cranes, aerial man-lifts, and/or material handling equipment. If so, training will be provided at government expense. The employee must apply a wide range of safety and other precautions. Travel to and lodging at remote locations is frequently required. Travel is by motor vehicle, aircraft, or other means of transportation.

- All external-to-SWPA employees hired after October I, 2010, shall reside within a one (I) hour response time from the employee's duty station upon entry into the position. All internal-to-SWPA employees competing for and accepting this position while residing more than one hour response time away from the duty station must reside within one hour response time from the new duty station within 6 months of the entrance-on-duty date for this position.
- This position is required to ensure that responsibilities are carried out consistent with the guidelines and objectives of the Environmental Management System (EMS), the Environmental Protection Program directive, and associated special emphasis environmental programs. The incumbent will ensure self-assessments of programs, projects, and facilities are conducted in accordance with environmental guidance which includes documentation supporting environmental objectives.
- This position requires extensive travel in the performance of official duties. As a result, the incumbent is required to obtain, use, and maintain a government travel card for all official travel.

- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
- This position may be eligible for creditable service towards annual leave.
