Basic Qualifications for GS-08 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performs difficult and complex staining procedures on normal and abnormal tissue and cellular components; Prepares, adjusts and standardizes chemical solutions, buffers, and stains used in the work; Evaluates the quality of various products through comparative examination of stains performed; Perform quality control procedures such as record keeping of receipt of reagents, expiration dates, lot numbers, and temperature charts; Maintain and operate such equipment as the frozen section cryostat, tissue processing equipment, and tissue microtome. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
