Qualifications for Histopathology Technician, GS-0646-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: frozen tissue processing for Mohs surgical tissues; preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination; freezing and staining tissue for surgical diagnosis; preparing stained slides; operating and maintaining instruments and equipment to process tissue specimens. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if you meet the definitions below:
Education Substitution: One full year of graduate education in Histotechnology, Human Anatomy, Biomedical Science or other field directly related to this position (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
