This Safety and Occupational Health Manager position serves as a senior advisor to the Clinical Center Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer, overseeing the Environment of Care accreditation program, which covers the breadth of review, inspection, risk assessment, gap analysis, and corrective actions to maintain all safety and regulatory standards for the environment where healthcare is delivered at the Clinical Center.

Duties
As a GS-13, Safety and Occupational Health Manager your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Overseeing the Environment of Care accreditation program and ensuring continuous survey readiness, for which the Clinical Center has received high marks from the Joint Commission: the hospital ranks among the best surveyed.
- Establishing and maintaining necessary compliance mechanisms, training, inspections, hospital policy alignment, documentation, and activities, in conjunction with the NIH CC Office of Patient Safety and Clinical Quality.
- Supporting facility specific management and department managers on safety, emergency management issues as well as the
institution compliance with federal, state, and local standards and The Joint Commission Standards.
- Managing and serving as the Chair of the Hospital Environmental Safety Committee, a subcommittee of the Medical Executive Committed (MEC) and keeps the MEC apprised of projects and performance data in areas including emergency management, fire
safety and management of medical equipment, safety, security, utilities and hazardous materials and wastes.
- Serving as an advisor and lead of the NIH Life Safety Code Team, responsible for reviewing, planning, monitoring, and documenting compliance with all applicable regulations for fire/life safety.
- Coordinating and collaborating with various NIH and other officials regarding disaster preparedness and disaster response.
- Supporting clinical care and clinical research at the NIH, serving the patients and their caregivers, collaborating with health care providers, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and the standards of accrediting organizations for the Clinical Center and innovating best practices in hospital safety management.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: overseeing an Environment of Care program, which includes reviewing, inspecting, conducting risk assessment, gap analysis, and corrective actions to maintain all safety and regulatory standards for the environment where healthcare is delivered; assisting in developing complex policies and operating guidance to implement environmental safety programs (e.g., remediation standards and procedures, guidance on health/environmental risk assessment); evaluating effectiveness of environmental safety programs; and preparing reports which identify management problems and recommending changes.
