Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Works in a training developmental capacity to perform the following duties:
  • Coordinate with customers regarding status of recruitment, selection, credentialing, and security.
  • Ensure all essential personnel data recorded in Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) is submitted properly and on a timely basis.
  • Utilize automation equipment and various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of documents for the organization.
  • Input data into automated personnel systems to code and/or review documentation for completion of recruitment and placement processes.
  • Screens documents, requests, and reports for accuracy.
  • Arranges pre-employment physical examinations and drug tests, issues job offers, and coordinates entrance on duty (EOD) start dates and release dates.
  • Assist in providing recruitment and placement support services to Human Resources Specialists and managers/supervisors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for a Human Resources Assistant (Office Automation):

A qualified typist (40 wpm) is required for this position.


GS-05 level - Specialized Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled which includes: 1) providing administrative support in an office setting; 2) responding to customer inquiries; and 3) utilizing office automation programs to perform administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in federal service. (GS-04).

OR

Education Substitution at GS-05: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify for the GS-05 level if you possess four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience at GS-05:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

GS-06 Level - Specialized Experience Required: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing administrative support in an office setting; 2) using automated systems and/or databases to process personnel actions and/or applicant builds; 3) responding to customer inquiries; and 4) reviewing personnel documents for completeness and accuracy prior to processing and/or uploading into an automated system/database. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional information

  • This position is located within the Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA) Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Civilian Human Resources Service Center (CHRSC) and may be eligible for local commuting area remote work in the future as determined by agency policy. This position will be filled at the GS-05 or 06 with a target GS-07 level. If selected at the GS-05 or GS-06 level, noncompetitive promotion to the full performance GS-07 is authorized.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
