Hydraulic Civil Engineer
About the Position
Join our team at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a Hydraulic Civil Engineer. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for creating and completing hydrologic and hydraulic studies to ensure the safety of dams and levees. Your work will support critical floodplain management and contribute to water supply and water quality projects. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including federal and state agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydraulic modeling for complex levee and channel projects, and develop water surface profiles for both steady and unsteady flow regimes.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to develop comprehensive hydrologic and hydraulic studies.
- Perform investigations of watersheds for multiple project purposes, including flood control and water quality management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Proficiency in operating engineering computer software to develop hydraulic/hydrologic models and preparing technical reports.
- Experience with engineering concepts related to water supply, hydraulics, and flood forecasting.
Work Experience
- Relevant experience depending on grade level:
- GS-09: One year of experience at a GS-07 level, or related education.
- GS-11: One year of experience at a GS-09 level, or a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering.
- GS-12: One year of experience at a GS-11 level.
