Duties
Systems administrator for the commercial network of the Force Support Squadron (FSS) information systems, ensuring FSS local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) systems, referred to as the FSS.net comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. Under supervisor supervision manages all aspects of this enterprise network to include SSL protocols, topologies, and communications, thus ensuring availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of services. Must have conceptual knowledge of Point-of-Sale Systems (POS) and functional systems for example Aloha, RecTrac, Cyberian, SolarWinds Helpdesk, Webservers, and Domain Controllers. Reviews, organization mission, functions, and manning to identify requirements and initiates requests for additional resources to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. Provides on-going technical support and training to customers on IT equipment within the scope of ownership to ensure proper functional use of equipment and programs to preclude undue interruptions to IT services on the FSS.net. Adjust security appliances to accommodate DMZ, VLANs, Firewall rules and all other necessary modifications to comply with current network security policies and PCI Compliance and network standard practices. Under supervisors' supervision participates with managers, computer users, and others to analyze established systems to determine reliability, productivity, and user friendliness of those systems. Responds to trouble reports by analyzing problems, providing solutions, and recommending actions necessary to avoid future difficulties, such as enhancing, replacing, or modifying existing programs or applications. Identifies potential performance or capability problems and reports to supervisor. Coordinates efforts and works closely with customers, support personnel, and commercial vendors to resolve network, hardware, and software issues. Provides backup capabilities for systems management/administration, to include functions at unit-level within the following capacities: Functional Systems Administrator (FSA), Computer Support Technician (CST), Information Technology Equipment Custodian (ITEC), Cybersecurity Liaison (CL), PCI Compliance Manager, Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate-Security (JNCIA-SEC) and Juniper Security, reports any issues to supervisor. Qualifying Experience:
Applicants must have 5 years of responsible experience of network systems, planning, testing, operating, and maintaining network services. Understanding of the organization's network architecture, topology, and protocols to plan, design, develop, and support functional requirements. Adept at problem resolution techniques and tools sufficient to resolve more complex issues and develop supportable solutions which enhance organizational and customer needs. Ability to analyze existing functional IT networks, identify potential weaknesses, and proactively develop comprehensive upgrades or enhancements. You must be physically able to lift and carry equipment up to 60 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a Secrete Security clearance and pre-employment physical and a drug test. Information Assurance certification is a condition of employment; incumbent must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment.
