About the Position: The 401st Army Field Support's mission is to leverage the power of the Army Materiel Command and entire Materiel Enterprise to support the readiness of U.S. Army Central Command. Provide logistics support to military/government agencies working to build readiness and security capacity in the region.

Duties

  • Responsible for the systems, procedures and policies that provide IT Help Desk services, technical support, and user assistance to all assigned staff via coordination with the Brigade and Network Enterprise Center or other support contractors.
  • Responsible for adoption of new technologies, hardware, software, in close consultation with the Battalion/Brigade, user representatives, and contractor touch labor support staff.
  • Conducts liaison with the local Network Enterprise Center (NEC) to ensure above-baseline requirements are identified and presented to the local NEC to be included in an annual Service Level Agreement.
  • Where required, serves as the Contracting Officers Representative for services and conducts quality assurance in accordance with the contract quality assurance support plan.
  • Collect monthly IT help desk metrics, and provide an analysis of the baseline and above baseline data trends in order to further refine and manage service delivery to the workforce.
  • Facilitates unique IT training for non-standard applications (not part of standard Army Gold Master Image) by ensuring training room requirements (hardware, SMEs, trainers), have the necessary tools available to conduct their training.
  • Maintains constant coordination with installation NEC or Signal unit service managers to ensure authorized service interruptions are advertised to the workforce appropriately, and to discuss any perceived problems in NEC/Signal Unit service delivery.
  • Schedules and coordinates tasks related to the project, orders hardware via the Army CHESS site, if required, and adheres to basic project management practices and guidelines to ensure that cost, quality, and schedule meet the project plan.

Specialized experience: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-11). Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Delivering IT training on various hardware systems and software applications to workforce; 2) Reviewing hardware/software contract documentation to monitor contract performance and schedule; 3) Maintain IT policies and procedures to provide guidance and advise to workforce; and 4) Overseeing IT helpdesk for any trends in hardware/software metrics.

My specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others;

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving routine and non-routine problems, questions, or complaints; developing and maintaining strong, mutually supportive working relationships with customers; conducting evaluation of support to determine quality of services and customer satisfaction, and recommending procedural changes based on customer need or changes in policy and/or regulation;
