Summary

This job opportunity is for an INSPECTOR GENERAL, position description D2276P01, within the New Jersey Army National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32.

The purpose of this position is to report to the JFHQ (St) IG on discipline,efficiency, morale, economy, training, and readiness of the State National Guard. Providesassistance to Soldiers, Airmen, and their family members on a wide range of issues and subjects

Duties

As an INSPECTOR GENERAL, GS-1801-12, you will:

  • Participates in DOD/DA/State inspections, inquiries, and investigations to perform review analysis, evaluation, staffing and coordination
  • Conducts investigations of allegations made and problems or deficiencies identified during the
    course of inspecting JFHQ (State) or unit operations relating to areas assigned
  • Develops/interprets policies and published guidance throughout the JFHQ (St) and to the IG.
  • Evaluates and processes inspection/investigation deficiencies
  • Prepares and reviews periodic and recurring IG reports and analyses of deficiency trends for the
    JFHQ (St) presents these trends to the IG and or JFHQ (St) leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Selectee must attend IGTC within six (6) months

Must successfully graduate from the U.S. Army Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with this regulation, and practice IG attributes as mandatory requirements for continued employment as an Army IG. Any serious criminal activity, to include drug use, will result in the immediate removal of an employee from IG duty and loss of access to IGARS and IGNET". Reference: AR 20-1?

Additional Employment Requirements:
-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
-Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
-Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service

Qualifications

General Experience:
Experience or knowledge in the following:

  • Collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Utilizing applicable laws, directives, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Skilled interpersonal communications, empathy, and effective listening
  • Ability to write reports and presentations
  • Ability to organize thoughts, research materials, and manage case projects
  • Skilled in comprehending and interpreting directives and laws
Specialized Experience:
At least 36 months of experience and training in the following:
  • Inspector General Program principles and practices related to federal civilian, military, and National Guard, operational, administrative and technical programs
  • Conducting investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Providing policy, guidance, oversight, and directions for the inspection programs; complaints resolution; Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; strategic plans and programs; and the Commander's Inspection Program.
  • Revising data collection methods or developing new approaches to analyze and evaluate data.
  • Conducting productivity assessments or effectiveness and efficiency program operations
