- Ability to evaluate installation areas and estimate the types and amount of insulation required while considering factors of size, shape, temperature, accessibility, environment, and physical appearance;
- Ability to insert lacing rings, washers, hooks and grommets into the insulating covers and fasten them with wire;
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations in order to calculate and perform a variety of linear, angular, cubic, and circular measurements and compute such factors as thermal conductivity and sound absorbency to properly select the insulation required;
- Ability to plan and layout, repair, and modify projects to ensure a uniform finish, stability, and continuity of insulating qualities;
- Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, process instructions, specifications, and project plans to identify the dimensional characteristic of surfaces, curves, angles, and slopes to be covered.
