Summary

About the Position: This is an "Interdisciplinary" position, Serves as a Social Worker and/or Clinical/Counseling Psychologist in the Department of Behavioral Health. The work requires knowledge of the principles, concepts, procedures, and practices associated with behavioral health. The work also requires knowledge, skill, and ability to interview patients, analyze medical data, develop medical treatment plans, and provide consultation and training.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Applies complex behavioral health and/or substance abuse rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and/or substance use evaluations.
  • Collaborates with management/command officials to identify behavioral health issues.
  • Conducts ongoing review of patient progress; evaluates and modifies treatment plans to meet changing needs.
  • Serves as consultant to managers/supervisor, commanders, medical personnel, and the extended community concerning behavioral health treatment.
  • Conducts peer review of case records.
  • Develops training evaluation criteria.

  • Incumbent of this position is required to have certification (at the State or National level) and or licensure level as appropriate and be in good standing verified by professional data banks.
  • All applicants must be licensed as a social worker/psychologist by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • IAW DODD 6025.13, 20 July 1995, subject: Clinical Quality Management Program in the Military Health Services System, and AR 40-68, Quality Assurance Administration, Interim Change No. 103, 30 June 1997.
  • Incumbent must have recent (within the past three years) clinical experience in behavioral health treatment. Additional training in substance abuse rehabilitation training is also encouraged.
  • Public Law 101-647, Section 231 and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094 requires the successful completion of a criminal history background check to serve in this position.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • Full privileges for providing, directing, and supervising behavioral health. Serves within the field of behavioral health.
  • Has a MSW degree or Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, plus practicum, from an accredited institution and has passed an advanced license examination in clinical social work or in psychology.
  • Has one year of satisfactory professional program management experience.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker:

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting mental evaluations for behavioral health patients, providing individual or group therapy, and formulating behavioral health interventions or treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

AND

Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Basic Requirements for Counseling Psychologist:

Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing comprehensive evaluations to patients; and developing or implementing treatment plans; and providing individual or group professional counseling. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

AND

Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted master's level counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
