This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 0830 MECHANICAL ENGINEER, 0855 ELECTRONICS ENGINEER, & 0861 AEROSPACE ENGINEER
A. A degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

B. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of qualifying experience includes:
wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in professional engineering disciplines and skill applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments. The incumbent applies expertise across electronics, mechanical, and aerospace engineering to analyze and assess foreign aerospace weapons systems and subsystems. This comprehensive knowledge is demonstrated through directing technical intelligence research, developing new exploitation methodologies, and guiding other engineers in analyzing aerospace systems design, capabilities, performance, and vulnerabilities. The position requires skill in applying this expertise to establish specialized intelligence collection requirements, evaluate intelligence sensors and sources, and develop new analytical approaches for foreign weapons systems assessment.
Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of engineering principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices and procedures to effectively apply engineering and scientific theories to the analysis, assessment and estimation of foreign aerospace weapon system and subsystem performance, capabilities and vulnerabilities.
2. Knowledge of the role intelligence plays through a weapon's system's life-cycle, operational planning and execution, policy; knowledge of the intelligence cycle and intelligence policy and guidance, and the structure organization, roles and missions and interrelationships of the national intelligence community.
3. Professional knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodologies of all-source scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis and the Defense Intelligence Analysis Program (DIAP).
4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, negotiating complex issues, and resolving conflicts based on
mature judgment, experience, and recognized professional standing.
5. Ability to collaborate and effectively work within a group setting.
6. Ability to effectively organize and analyze information; produce authoritative reports, position papers, and briefings which are responsive to the specific needs of Squadron objectives; and ability to present clear and concise findings and effectively advocate for a position.

1. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
