Duties

Supports the store replenishment effort through coordinating general inventory and merchandise flow, partnering with Sales Managers to ensure replenishment is executed in a systematic, on-brand way. Ensures backroom standards are maintained. Responsible for coaching the activities of the replenishment team involved in the receipt, inspection, quality control, ticketing, picking, consolidation, storage, merchandise display, stocking, price marking and packing of merchandise in and out of the storage facilities. Reports to the Store Manager, Operations Manager, Backroom Manager or Sales Manager. 

Executes corporate backroom standards program to include physically inspecting merchandise, maintaining a high efficiency of the receiving, marking and checking process, movement of merchandise to the sales floor and the accurate flow of merchandise through all backroom functions. Partners with Sales Managers to determine available shelf space and amounts and location of merchandise to be displayed. Assures items are effectively merchandised in accordance with the Brand Integrity Team, accurately price marked and set according to merchandising standards. Assures rotation of stock to prevent spoilage and outdating of stock; marks down price of merchandise to move damaged or perishable stock. Arranges for return to vendor of items which are damaged, shipped in error or unsellable. Receives, locates, stores, ships and warehouses materials, commodities, or equipment in accordance with established procedures and operating requirements. Works with independence in determining sequences of loading and unloading, developing space utilization plans and implementing movement of materials. Assists Sales Managers and Brand Integrity Manager in the planning and execution of all corporate sales programs, promotions and other events where merchandise is involved.

Encourages and empowers all team members to identify opportunities to resolve customer problems and concerns before they happen. Communicates any outstanding problem resolution issues with the Experience Manager or Operations Manager. Understands and articulates all MCX value stories, programs and promotions. Recognizes the core values and mission of the Marine Corps Exchange. Conducts regular inspections of equipment and work areas; follows prescribed preventative maintenance program and makes recommendations for repair or replacement. Identifies and reduces all risks of loss and/or theft. Actively engages in organizational training opportunities that develop personal and professional skills related to: time management, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, career planning, public speaking and small group leadership. Participates in all corporate-led training programs.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Delivers a Dress Blue Experience to all customers throughout the store. Proactively engages all customers in conversation. Addresses customers by rank when appropriate. Understands and operates within all service policies and exercises an “I can DO that!” mentality when a customer problem occurs. Follows up with customers to ensure their problems were resolved. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

May require food handling safety training, handling and certification. May require training and handling of Western Union and other customer services offered. May require light custodial duties, light lifting of merchandise, stocking, setting planograms, price changes, inventory counts and corrections.

Performs other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience working within a backroom or warehouse environment. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for logistics, replenishment and warehousing and work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence. Ability to work in a high performance atmosphere with commitment to service and sales goals. Replenishment and merchandise management knowledge preferred. Skilled in all phases of receiving, storing and issuing procedures. Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of the physical receipt, arrangement, custody and distribution of merchandise. Attention to detail is required.
