Summary

This vacancy is being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority. All applicants who meet the basic and minimum qualification requirements will be forwarded to the selecting official for consideration. This position is part of the Selective Service System, IT Directorate, Cybersecurity Division. This position serves as the Information Assurance Security Engineer.

Duties

  • Maintains a cognizance of the organization's Cybersecurity policy and develops procedures that implement initiatives to include remote access, cybersecurity tools, web cache, network demilitarized zone.
  • Provides security solutions and evaluates their impact on security infrastructure.
  • Sets and establishes requirements to develop and implement information systems securitytechnology and procedures, to include public key infrastructure and biometrics technologies that address access control.

Qualifications

At the GS-13 level, you must meet the following qualification:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:

1) developing cybersecurity policies and procedures to implement security initiatives and/or requirements; 2) conducting cybersecurity assessments and recommending solutions to protect local and/or cloud networks and to protect information systems security; and 3) briefing management officials on cybersecurity findings and recommendations.

AND

IT-related experience which demonstrates the (four) required competencies - Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

Telework Suitability:
The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.

Stipulations of Employment:
Selection may require completion of a 1-year probationary period.

Work Schedule:
This position may require shift work on a 24x7x365 basis and may be required to work weekends, nights and/or holidays on a rotational basis or as the need/workload dictates.
