To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience must include the following:
- Developing the system architecture, defining and allocating requirements, evaluating design tradeoffs, balancing technical risk between systems, defining and assessing interfaces, monitoring of verification and validation activities.
- Supporting all phases of the SDLC and engage with the stakeholders to ensure architecture standards, governance and guidelines are considered.
- Providing recommendations on electronic, shipboard sensors and IT systems providing overall integration and development services that follow a SDLC Framework with and understanding that processes will be continuously improved in collaboration with other teams.
- Providing recommendations on electronic and sensors systems like radar, radio, navigation, command and control, and optical systems to acquisition team and contract managers.
- Building business cases that monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts, including cost schedule and technical performance of the asset.
- Understanding of the needs and requirements for end-users.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
