Summary

This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command, Transportation Command. The incumbent will serve as a Zero Trust Specialist within the USTRANSCOM's Command, Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems Directorate.

This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct Hire Authority, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019.

As an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/PLCYPLN) at the NH-2210-03 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as a Zero Trust Specialist within the USTRANSCOM's Command, Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems Directorate.
  • Leads, coordinates, communicates, integrates and is accountable for the overall success of cybersecurity programs, ensuring alignment with critical agency priorities.
  • Conducts independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system.
  • Designs to security requirements to ensure requirements are met for all systems and/or applications.
  • Develops and acquires system(s) that are consistent with organization's cybersecurity guidelines and Department of Defense's (DoD) modernization vision.
  • Tests and evaluates information system security throughout the systems development lifecycle.

  • This is a cybersecurity position. employee must attain and maintain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity Certificate(s) applicable for cybersecurity functions for the DoD position held, within six months of filling the position, IAW DoD 8140

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Top Secret (SCI) clearance. Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
  • Financial Disclosure: Required (OGE-450), In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act 1978, employee is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually

  • A graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or a related field is highly desirable

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-03, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11) grade level in the Federal service as listed below:

  • Creating, reviewing, and delivering governance documentation, strategies, road maps, charters, and standards
  • Assessing risk and mission impacts of security vulnerabilities
  • Developing Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization requirements for on-premise, cloud-based or big data storage environments
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
