Summary

About the Position: Recruitment/Relocation/Retention incentive may be requested through management and may be authorized up to 25% of base salary per year to be paid bi-weekly for a period of service up to 18 months.

Duties

  • Serve as an IT Specialist performing routine and recurring assignments, independently or as a member of a team, in the administration, development, delivery and support of information technology (IT) systems and services.
  • Providing information and assistance to customers.
  • Ensuring the application of appropriate security measures in assigned areas.
  • Performing as the Information Management Officer (IMO) with responsibility for coordinating and administering theBattalions Information Technology (IT) requirements.
  • Identifying, reporting and resolving a variety of IT issues and problems.
  • Serving as the primary VTC (Video Teleconferencing) Operator, actively managing VTC capability.
  • Managing and coordinating several systems used by transporters such as ICODES (Integrated Computerized Deployment System), and JOPES (Joint Operational Planning and Execution System).

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 15% of the time.
  • This position requires a valid, state-issued Drivers License and must be insurable in order to travel to other locations in the Commands structure.
  • This position is designated as an Emergency Essential (E-E) position in support of mobilization and wartime mission requirements and requires the incumbent to remain in the overseas area and perform duties until relieved by the proper authority.
  • This position may require employees to work overtime on a regular basis to accommodate peak workflow or respond to emergency situations, often under severe time constraints.
  • This position requires that the incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement medical examination/physical due to the physical requirements of the position.
  • Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and earn the required certification for this position as outlined in DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.
  • Information Assurance (IA) Technical level II certification is required.
  • If appointed as a Contract Officer Representative (COR), employee is required to (at a minimum) complete the following on-line courses: CLC222, CLC106, and CLM003.
  • CORs must also obtain 40 hours of continuous training every 2 years, which can be obtained through the Federal Acquisition Institute and the Defense Acquisition University.
  • Candidates selected for this position must pass an extensive medical examination for deployment and during employment to CENTCOM area per MOD17 guidance.

BASIC REQUIREMENT: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

IN ADDITION to the basic requirement above, applicants must meet the definition of specialized experience below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Delivering support of IT Systems and services; resolving IT issues and problems; and providing IT assistance to customers.

This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
