Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience installing and maintaining computer hardware and software to ensuring essential performance and connectivity of network services of customer organizations.
- Experience monitoring the availability and functionality of networks and systems to detect and report problems for resolution.
- Experience developing and enhancing automated systems through testing and installation modifications and upgrades for optimal availability, interoperability, and functionality of systems.

Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A)

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education
Applicants must meet the following education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
Basic Requirements: This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.GS11 (or equivalent) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -or- 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. -or- equivalent doctoral degree- OR-Experience:Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate
One year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifies a client or customer need and provides a quality product or service.3.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Advising management on alternative courses of action.4.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifies and anticipates server performance, availability, capacity or confirmation problems and initiates corrective or preventive actions.
