Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

Serves as a recognized technical authority and expert in the Division of Enterprise Software Engineering Infrastructure (DESEI), Office of Enterprise Support, Architecture and Engineering (OESAE) providing full systems technical support on matters involving SSA's multi-platform Enterprise Software Engineering Facility (ESEF) environment.


Duties

  • Provides support and technical guidance for all ESEF data storage issues and functions on all ESEF platforms including the mainframe DASD pool, mainframe tape silos, IWS/LAN tape processes and hard-drive storage.
  • [con't] These activities would include allocation, restoration, performance monitoring, reporting, etc.
  • Directs the analyses of performance of ESEF Components (both hardware and software) in order to ensure that they are providing efficient and effective software development support.
  • [con't] Ensures the collection, analysis and reporting of information such as central processing unit usage, channel activity, memory used, elapsed time, number of transactions processed, network performance, etc.
  • Provides technical guidance to the ESEF Help Desk, which serves as the first point of contact for assistance to users working in the ESEF environment. Responsible for support of the ESEF Help Desk Call Tracking System.
  • Prepares and delivers highly technical presentations on ESEF software/hardware in meetings attended by representatives at all levels and from all parts of the ESEF user community.
  • [con't] Through these meetings, solicits and responds to user comments, questions and suggestions, promotes exchange of information and resolution of problems and announces changes in ESEF software, hardware, schedules, policy or procedures.

In addition, to qualify for this GS-13 level position, applicants must possess and demonstrate 52 weeks of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level (or above) in the federal service that is in or related to the work of the position filled and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include all:
  • z/OS storage management analysis, tuning, reporting and problem resolution and
  • developing and presenting z/OS storage management performance and resource utilization reports.
This specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume or you will be disqualified from further consideration.
