Duties
This position is a mission critical occupation and is responsible for the analysis of system and/or security requirements, the development and implementation of mission critical applications for the agency's Information Technology operations.
As an Information Technology Specialist, you will be responsible for Data Warehouse and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) administration involving the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions to meet Data Warehouse information systems requirements.
Your major duties and responsibilities include:
- Participating in the planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing software applications, primarily in the areas of Web development, business intelligence, and Geo Spatial data and tool development.
- Overseeing GIS software development, testing, quality assurance, validation, implementation, maintenance activities and scheduling of projects including design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions to meet Data Warehouse information systems requirements.
- Collaborating with internal IT teams to optimize day-to-day IT operations.
- Providing technical oversight of geospatial tools and software including the agency's enterprise Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) GIS system and Microsoft SQL Server database with geospatial data.
- Managing projects through the project lifecycle (concept, design, development, testing, implementation, training, evaluation, and close-out).
- Researching and evaluating new technology which could provide improvement.
