This position is being filled through Direct Hire Authority and is open to all U.S. Citizens and ICTAP/CTAP eligibles in the local commuting area. Duties
Selectee(s) will report to an assigned DOL office location on a regular basis and be eligible for telework as determined by agency policy. This is not a remote position. Offices are located in: Washington, DC; Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; San Francisco, CA. For specific locations, see: DOL offices. Advertised salary reflects the pay range for the above locations. Upon selection, salary will be set in accordance with the selectee's assigned duty location.
Major duties at the GS-12 grade level include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain web applications using a variety of programming languages and frameworks to build technical expertise.
- Design and implement responsive web design to ensure compatibility for various devices and screen sizes, learning to adapt designs for a diverse user base.
- Implement security measures to protect web applications from vulnerabilities and attacks, building a foundation in cybersecurity.
- Integrate third-party APIs and services to expand web application capabilities, learning to incorporate external tools and services.
- Develop and customize Drupal modules and themes to meet specific project requirements, gaining expertise in Drupal development.
- Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements to ensure web applications meet user needs and expectations, learning to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Design and implement artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to enhance web applications, gaining experience in AI integration.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to develop AI solutions tailored to the Department of Labor's needs, learning interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for AI and web development projects, learning to create comprehensive documentation.

Duties performed at the GS-13 level are similar to those performed at the GS-12 level; however, at the GS-13 level, duties will be performed under less supervision.

Qualifications
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

For GS-12: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-11 in the Federal Service.
For GS-13: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12 in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Qualifying specialized experience for GS-12 includes:
- Experience with development of Digital applications, knowledge of websites coding concepts and methods sufficient to develop technical requirements for new or modified applications.
- Experience with customer support principles, concepts, and methods sufficient to assist customers in developing solutions for web based applications.
Qualifying specialized experience for GS-13 includes:
- Experience with interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines sufficient to integrate web based applications with other IT systems development projects.
- Experience with development of Digital applications, knowledge of websites coding concepts and methods sufficient to develop technical requirements.
- Experience with interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines sufficient to provide advice on and devise solutions to a wide range of IT issues on web based applications.
