Summary

You will serve as a Information Technology Specialist/Cyberspace Operations Technical Lead and senior deployed civilian responsible for planning, assigning, and leading the work of civilian and military analysts and operators executing Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) and Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Operations. This position is located in Fort Meade, MD at CWG-SIX.

Duties

  • You will define objectives/standards, provide technical direction, and establish guidelines in new and unique situations where existing policies and precedents are non-existent or of limited applicability.
  • You will direct operational actions, technical training, and mission alignment for assigned personnel.
  • You will conduct cyber threat detection and analysis actions in support of Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO).
  • You will leverage network sensor alerting from intrusion detection and prevention systems to identify potential network threats.

  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • This position may be subject to polygraph examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work outside of traditional working hours (Mon-Fri 0800-1600) may be required.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 511 level 02 within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must demonstrate the possession of at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately;
4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following duties such as:
1) Identifying and analyzing host and network data to uncover malicious /anomalous activity.
2) Providing subject matter expertise, interpretation, or clarification of assigned area(s) in Defense Cyberspace Operations (DCO);
3) Lead teams to develop innovative solutions for hunting and analysis based on mission requirements;

All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
