To qualify for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or, through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized
experience includes:
- Develop specification to ensure compliance with security requirements;
- Conduct security accreditation reviews;
- Provide guidance in planning and implementing migration activities;
- Evaluate new security authentication technologies;
- Develop technical requirements for new or modified applications;
- Analyze and determine optimal hardware and software configurations;
- Provide technical guidance in the design, coding, testing, and debugging process;
- Coordinate the technical support of deployed applications; and,
- Work with applications developers to isolate and solve design problems encountered during testing and implementation stages.
For this position, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
