Duties

  • Serves as an Information Technology (IT) expert with advanced knowledge in administering and supporting Citrix/VDI technologies.
  • Serves as the principal advisor and senior staff specialist in the Enterprise Infrastructure Application Support Branch, Enterprise IT Architecture Division, Technical Foundation Services (TFS), and Enterprise IT Services (EIS).
  • Provides technical guidance, analysis, advice, and troubleshooting / problem resolution on a wide range of operational problems involving enterprise IT services that impact enterprise operations in support of Citrix/VDI.
  • Manages Enterprise Citrix Server Farms on a virtual platform, via VMware to include: all virtual server infrastructure needed to support Citrix project, Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler.
  • Provisioning software/appliances, perform installation, configuration, maintenance and support of servers in a Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop environment.
  • Review performance metrics of VDI Farm infrastructure to ensure availability of resources for external or remote users and internal users making server adjustments to improve that availability.
  • Prepare reports and records of work accomplishments, administration information, and work materials as required and prepares information for supervisor on project progress.
  • Provide tier 3 level enterprise support for Citrix/VDI Applications, Remote and Tool Support Branch for both Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and the Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET).
  • Research, document, and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to Windows operating systems OR applications to meet security compliance in support of Citrix/VDI and other Virtual Desktop Initiatives.
  • Participate in planning, designing, conducting and evaluating the results of feasibility and performance studies and environmental tests of next generation of Citrix/VDI products for enterprise implementation.
  • Receives trouble calls from end-users, provides all Tier III support to include: trouble-shooting or diagnostic routines and procedures, assesses the problem, determines actions necessary to resolve the problem, and takes those actions.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFSOEC), your qualifications must include:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only}, time-after competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

- Responsible for planning and project management for both CONUS and OCONUS IT Citrix/VDI
environments and serves as the functional manager for IT resources to all depot IT personnel.

- Provides Citrix/VDI technical guidance, assistance, and advice to other personnel to facilitate and
enhance the translation of customer/user expectations into automated requirements.

- Manages Enterprise Citrix Server Farms on a virtual platform, via VMware to include: all virtual server
infrastructure needed to support Citrix project, Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler, and provisioning
software/appliances, perform installation, configuration, maintenance and support of servers in a Citrix
XenApp and XenDesktop environment.

- Review performance metrics of Farm infrastructure to ensure availability of resources for external or
remote users and internal users making server adjustments to improve that availability.

- Researches and analyzes Citrix/VDI IT methods, techniques, and procedures to determine overall
effectiveness to make recommendations to leadership to improve organizational efficiency.

Additional information

This position is being filled as Term appointment not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 years. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Promotion, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 3 years and may be extended up to a total of five years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade, this position will be filled as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade with the intent to be limited to the time period specified in the announcement and may be reassigned at management's discretion or made permanent at any time. Upon termination/expiration of the temporary assignment, placement will be either to the gaining or previous organization in accordance with DLA policy (DLAI 1442.04) regarding placement rights after a time-limited assignment. For all others, if selected, this would be a Term/Time-Limited Appointment NTE 3 years, and not more than six years. The selected applicant will be required to sign a written agreement acknowledging the conditions of this temporary assignment/appointment and that they may be released from this position upon management discretion.
