Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ITSPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), Position Description Number T60019P1 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard.

This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Duties

As an ITSPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES), you will serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), including the planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Administering the base Local Area Network (LAN). Implements new network operating systems hardware/software and develops base wide network operating procedures. Analyzes LAN utilization statistics through data collection and performance measures to ensure the smooth, reliable, and robust operation of LANs to include classified and unclassified networks. Coordinates LAN installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reviews, evaluates, and fine-tunes components such as hubs, switches, and routers to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network connectivity.

Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel

Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DOD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating change 3, 24 Jan 2013 or current version).Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and obtain Special Experience Identifier (SEI) 264, IAW current AF directives. Information Assurance - Technical Level II (IAT II), IAW current AF directives.) Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate certification within six months of being assigned. Failure to satisfactorily obtain and/or maintain updated certifications in accordance with publication listed are grounds for termination.
