Summary

The Office of Occupational Health and Well-Being Services (OHWB) supports the mission by applying professional knowledge in Occupational Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Safety operating in accordance with all governing body regulations. OHWB personnel provide clinical services, including emergency response, evaluations, immunizations, vision and well-being services. Personnel will also provide technical, managerial, and administrative services to the workforce.

Duties

The National Security Agency (NSA) is seeking an early or mid-career professional to work in our Environmental, Safety and Health Solutions Division as an Industrial Hygiene Consultant. As such, the incumbent serves as an Agency expert on occupational health matters. The successful candidate will be joining a group of industrial hygienists who manages programs that are recognized as models in the Intelligence Community.

The Industrial Hygienist will be responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, preventing, and controlling occupational health hazards and diseases; conducting health risk assessment, indoor air quality, ergonomics, asbestos, lead, radiation (ionizing and non-ionizing), respiratory protection, and noise surveys; collecting samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis; investigating adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that may affect employee health, comfort, or efficiency; conducting audits and inspections, managing Agency IH programs to raise awareness of potential health hazards and recommend preventive actions; conducting briefings on a variety of industrial hygiene programs and training using lectures, demonstrations, discussions, coaching, or on-the-job training; preparing written technical reports with recommendations for corrective actions; and coordinating with managers, medical, safety, fire protection, environmental and engineering professionals to resolve issues that impact the health and well-being of the workforce.

Ideal Candidates will have Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or Occupational Health Safety Technician (OHST) certification.

FULL PERFORMANCE
Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience.

Degree must be in Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Occupational Safety and Health, Microbiology, Chemistry, Public Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.

Relevant experience must be in one or more of the following: industrial hygiene, preventative medicine, microbiology, or environmental health (for example, health inspections/assessments, design and implementation of health hazard risk mitigation programs).

Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Salary Range: $85,447 - $133,142 (Full Performance)

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).

DCIPS Trial Period: If selected for this position, you will be required to serve a two-year DCIPS trial period, unless you are a veterans' preference-eligible employee, in which case you are required to serve a one-year trial period. This trial period runs concurrently with your commitment to the position, if applicable. Before finalizing your appointment at the conclusion of your trial period, NSA will determine whether your continued employment advances the public interest. This decision will be based on factors such as your performance and conduct; the Agency's needs and interests; whether your continued employment would advance the Agency's organizational goals; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.

Upon completion of your trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

If you do not receive certification for continued employment, you should receive written notice prior to the end of your trial period that your employment will be terminated and the effective date of such termination.
