Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Arms Ammunition and Explosive (AA E) reliability program as defined in Army Regulation 190-11.
- Incumbent is required to complete a security screening and evaluation to include a criminal background check, personnel records screening, and a medical records screening.
- Failure to meet and maintain the reliability program standards may be cause for a determination that the incumbent has failed to meet the conditions necessary for continued employment in this position.
- This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA FORM 5019-R and/or DA FORM 7412, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program, or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- As a condition of employment and shall be subject to periodic and random urinalysis drug testing as required by AR 600-85.
- Detection of drug usage through confirmed positive urinalysis test results may be cause for a determination that the incumbent has failed to meet the conditions necessary for continued employment in this position.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain protective mask test equipment operation certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all mandatory training requirements.
- Pre-appointment physical is required and annual physical annually thereafter.
- Incumbent will be required to wear chemical protective equipment, respirators, safety glasses, etc.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Worker~ without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following:1. assembling items, handling materials, unloading boxes and placing the material at the correct production phase; 2. replacing defective products; 3. sorting items utilizing physical characteristics; and 4. packaging finished product and utilizing manual assembly and automated production equipment.
Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Workers frequently lift bomb, shells, and rocket casings, power charges, or other objects weighting 30 to 40 pounds. Workers frequently lift and carry cartons, materials, supplies and equipment weighing up to twenty pounds and may occasionally handle items weighing up to fifty pounds. Some assignments require lifting above 60 pounds at a production rate pace determined by line speed/engineering standards. May pull or push hand trucks weighting several hundred pounds. The work requires sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, and long periods of standing. Endurance and eye-hand coordination are required to work at a steady pace and rhythm for long periods. Workers perform work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring them to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Hand-trucks, dollies and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is both inside and outside. The worker may occasionally work inside areas that are drafty. The nature of the work is dirty, dusty, greasy, and the area may be noisy. Workers are required to stand on floors made of concrete for long periods of time. Operators must wear protective clothing overalls, safety shoes, respirators, protective masks, and goggles on assignments. They are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in work areas. They are exposed to fumes from acid, solvents, other industrial type of chemicals, and explosives. They are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fire. There is a chance for injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea. There is a slight danger of contact dermatitis involved with handling used protective and safety equipment. The worker is occasionally required to wear respiratory protective equipment and TAP clothing.

- Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
