Summary

This position is located in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), Office of Information Technology (OIT), IT Operations & Technical Services, Washington, DC.

Duties

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution that was created by the US Congress to serve as America’s national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum seeks to educate Americans from all 50 states and all walks of life as well as international audiences. The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and education, and genocide prevention.

Duties include:

The employee serves as a member of the Technical Services Support team which provides for the implementation, operation, and maintenance of an enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure.

Provide technical assistance to the USHMM's end users, IT professionals, museum outreach, and special event staff.

Implement, manage, and maintain computer systems of the USHMM.

Coordinates and manages all elements related to the IT support operations throughout the Museum.

Serve as first-level support technician providing technical assistance to USHMM staff including troubleshooting and resolving everyday technical issues.

Provide Systems support for a wide variety of different equipment platforms, operating systems, applications, and video configurations.

Communicating, orally and in writing, with managers, program managers and stakeholders, subject matter specialists, Museum staff, and contractor representatives to develop ideas in a logical, analytical sequence.

Responsible for testing, evaluating, reviewing, repairing and disposing of IT equipment.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic requirements above, all applicants must also meet the following minimum qualification requirements:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 (or equivalent) grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties:

For this position, specialized experience includes the following: Performing a wide range of desktop support services, including primary responsibility for user account management, hardware inventory control, computer warranty repairs, and hardware decommissioning and disposal; Providing desktop and network support for events (both onsite and offsite); Managing IT-focused training for newly onboarded personnel; AND providing customer and operational support for complex technical problems and issues.

OR

Education: Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related major field of study; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
