Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT Systems within the Office of the United States Attorney, District of Delaware. Typical work assignments will include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining network architecture and infrastructure;
  • Provide customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems;
  • Properly maintain and control assigned telecommunications systems using knowledge of the capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, servers, and related hardware;
  • Applies knowledge of the capabilities of commercial information systems security products, including firewalls and intrusion detection software in use by the organization;
  • Converts user-developed content into workable Web pages using standard graphics markup languages, such as hypertext markup language (HTML) or extensible markup language (XML). Uses a variety of formats to deliver content using the internet, including graphics and multimedia;
  • Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability;
  • Monitoring functionality, security, and integrity of internet services;
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining litigation support equipment; and
  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer hardware and software.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:

Specialized Experience: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
AND
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Providing IT customer support services to include the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, recovering and/or resolving of recurring hardware and software systems and networked systems;
  • Providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications;
  • Installing and maintaining database and networked systems including servers, hubs, VPNs, routers, switches, bridges and/or related hardware;
  • Assisting in organization- wide account maintenance and hardware/software updates.
OR
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
