IT Related Experience: I have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing specific details and guidelines.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing assistance to co-workers in the immediate office.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Exchanging IT related information when called upon.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing computer related issues.
GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below: specialized experience and IT-related experience
OR education.
Specialized Experience: I have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal service that demonstrates performing the following duties: assisting with customer support to users; identifying and resolving hardware/software problems, troubleshooting cause, and providing recommendations for resolution; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems; ensuring reliability and accessibility of information security systems to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data; assisting with the maintenance of litigation support databases, specifications, and equipment.
OR
Education: A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. This education must have been in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR must have provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below: specialized experience and IT-related experience
OR education.
Specialized Experience: I have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service that demonstrates experience performing the following duties: installing, configuring, and maintaining database and networked systems; providing quality assurance and analysis of information security systems to ensure compliance with information security policies and regulations; maintaining and monitoring internet servers to ensure functionality and security; maintaining litigation support databases, specifications, and equipment; providing customer support services to include the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving of recurring hardware and software systems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; contributing to information technology planning and policy development.
OR
Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. This education must have been in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR must have provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
