Individuals must meet both:
- The Basic Requirement through either A. Experience or B. Education; AND
- The specialized experience described below.
1. Basic Requirements :
A. Experience- Experience that demonstrated each of the four competencies below; the experience must be IT-related. Experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, certification), as appropriate.
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
B. Education:
GS-9: Education: Master's or equivalent degree related to Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics
, or Technology Management; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
GS-11: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Technology Management; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
In additional to the basic requirements above, applicants must meet the specialized experience identified below:
GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet
one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrates the ability to provide IT customer support services, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware/software and networked systems, and maintenance of internet servers and websites.
GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet
one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in Federal service. Specializedexperience is defined as as experience that demonstrates the ability to provide IT customer support services, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware/software and networked systems, and maintenance of internet servers and websites. In addition, providing user training on routine applications, conducting information security analysis and compliance, and management of web design and legal compliance.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
