Summary

This position is located in the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). This unit is responsible for conducting Information Technology (IT) audits of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases.

Duties

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) (IT Auditor), you will:

- Plan and conduct IT related audit assignments that focus on specific IT audit objectives. May serve as audit leader, as appropriate.
- Develop and/or identify techniques or methods to use in gathering data and documentation for a variety of diverse and complex activities.
- Independently identify and apply specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives, e.g., uses basic statistical sampling as required
- Gather and analyze information obtained though observation, document review, previous audit reports, written policies and procedures, legislative history, financial/accounting records, and other material related to the program, function, or activity under review.
- Prepare professional work products, such as work paper summaries, memos, report sections, briefing papers, and other documents in accordance with approved formats.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-12, specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS-11 level that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes:
-Conducting information technology related audits; and communicating information technology audit issues, and justifying conclusions reached. OR
-Experience working for a tax administration organization with responsibility for policy development and/or application of policy/standards in the areas of systems development, operations/maintenance or security.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (CONTINUED):
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
