Duties

This position is listed as a remote work position, in order to allow candidates from across the country to apply and be considered. However, Commerce OIG is flexible. Any selected applicant within the Seattle, WA or Washington, DC commuting areas will have the additional options of working onsite in one of those offices, or having a hybrid telework agreement allowing a mixture of both in-office work and telework.

As an Information Technology Specialist (Information Security), you will:

  • Serve as an integral member of the Web Team to support the high-quality design, coding, testing, documentation, deployment and maintenance of agency websites, forms, and web applications by using current technologies (i.e., content management system, programming languages, video, graphic design, frameworks) and development methodologies.
  • Analyze requests for system capabilities and recommends innovative solutions to arising complex issues by sharing information, persuading, or negotiating a resolution with the stakeholders.
  • Utilize various automated systems to revise and/or update old content including SharePoint Online, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe in Design, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other graphic arts related equipment/software.
  • Implement and maintain a production website which complies with all required security standards and guidelines to effectively ensure its content is accurate and up to date, has high availability, functional production issues are addressed quickly, and website technology is continuously secured through software upgrades and patches.
  • Participate in small to medium sized projects to develop modern digital content concepts with the in-house design team in the areas of media, graphics, and videos for OIG's digital properties.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
  • Performing a broad range of network and systems administration tasks associated with Software Development, such as web applications or database development, using programming code; AND
  • Overseeing and contributing to major projects that include facing challenges with IT issues impacting an enterprise network; AND
  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT system/infrastructure problems throughout the entire systems development life cycle.; AND
  • Facilitating with the design of client-server applications interfaced to centralized databases.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
