Summary

About the Position: Serves as a Project Manager responsible for managing assigned projects from planning to completion. As Project Manager, integrates all the processes and functions involved in the project, including planning, engineering, design, construction, and other technical functions.

Duties

  • Project Manager responsible for managing assigned projects from planning to completion.
  • Coordinate actions and decisions with various elements, resolving conflicts and settling issues arising by dealing with technical managers who are responsible for their technical phase of the project.
  • Lead a project delivery team in the scope, development, design, construction, and other technical functions.
  • Prepare project studies and reports on a timely basis.

  • Identify any problems and recommend changes or alternatives to resolve encountered or anticipated issues.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with customers to solve problems in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accomplishes the preparation of all necessary budgetary data.
  • Analyze financial data in order to assure meeting projects cost/scope objectives.
  • Allocates funds to all elements of the project and assures that costs do not exceed projected allocations.
  • Manage assigned projects by establishing responsibilities, set expectations and controls, and manage budgets.
  • Prepares and reviews written reports, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Presents project briefings to communicate facts, ideas, or status in a succinct and organized manner.
  • Execute the appropriate internal and external communication strategy for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with project delivery team members to facilitate the development of project management plans.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
