Individual Occupational Requirement: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement and English Proficiency, applicants must also meet the grade specific requirements listed below: You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-07 Minimum Qualifications: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel; Performs Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing; Performs 12-lead electrocardiograms; Assisting with patient exams, structured interviews and screenings; Thoroughly and appropriately documents actions, interventions and procedures in the medical record; Knowledge of medications; Knowledge of major psychiatric conditions, depressive, anxiety, bipolar and substance use disorders, and schizophrenia; Working knowledge of diagnostic signs, e.g., pulse, respiration, blood pressure, temperature, skin color, pupils of the eyes, state of consciousness, ability to move on command, reaction to pain, etc., to perform patient evaluation, to provide patient care, and to ensure appropriate patient handling.

To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed one full year (18 Semester Hours) of graduate level education that is directly related to the work of the position such as phlebotomy, nursing, or other related subjects.
